Sip Smart: Why Apple Cider Vinegar Belongs in Your Mocktails (and Your Morning Routine)

Let’s talk about the not-so-secret ingredient I’ve been dropping into mocktails and morning drinks: apple cider vinegar.
Now before you roll your eyes and think, “Ew, vinegar in my drink?” ...just trust me. I’m not here to sell you on a cleanse or promise it’ll shrink your waist overnight. But I am here to tell you it’s got some real benefits, and it just so happens to make mocktails pop with a little tang and depth. Think of it like the grown-up twist your drink didn’t know it needed.
So Why Add It?
1. It supports digestion. That slightly sour kick? It actually helps get your gut moving. A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar can boost digestive enzymes, support stomach acid, and help your body process meals more efficiently.
2. It can help with blood sugar balance. Studies show ACV may support better blood sugar levels, especially when taken before meals or added to carb-heavy meals. (No, it’s not magic, but every little bit helps when you're being mindful.)
3. It gives your mocktail real flavor. Most mocktails rely on sweet mixers to feel satisfying, but ACV adds brightness and bite. It's especially good with citrus, berries, or anything sparkling. My favorite? A watermelon margarita mocktail with ACV and electrolytes...it's summer in a glass baby, but with benefits.
How to Use It
You don’t need a shot glass or a gag reflex. Try this instead:
Add ½ to 1 tablespoon of raw, unfiltered ACV to a tall glass.
Mix with sparkling water, splash of citrus juice, or a prebiotic soda like Poppy. (I am obsessed with Poppy soda btw)
Add fruit, herbs, or ice and call it a mocktail.
Or just toss it in your morning water with lemon or electrolyte mix and drink it before coffee. Your gut will thank you.
Final Note
Apple cider vinegar isn’t a miracle. But it is a solid habit, and when you’re building a life that supports your mind and body (especially if you’re choosing a sober path), little things add up. ACV is one of mine. Add it to your routine. Try it in your next mocktail. You might just be surprised.
